Why myths are Important

Some myths are polished stories of real incidents that already occurred. Though most of them are like fairy tale, they shares some events that are really close to real incidents. One of the greatest examples we can see is about the great flood that took place, how Noah built the Ark, and how they survived. This same story is explained in every cultures and nations, but all of them describes in different way.

Myth serves us some interesting themes like creation, cosmic architecture, myths of humanity, supernatural beings, cosmic disasters, heroes and tricksters, animals and plants, body and souls, marriage and kinship. This themes gives us idea about the beginning of the world, creation of human being, purpose of life and death, starting of  human civilization, technologies and many more. Myth also let us know about traditional cultivation, transportation, trading processes, entertainment etc.

Myths as glimpse of history

Myths serves us idea of history through cultural values, historical events and characters, technological exchanges, religion, kingship/ governance, international politics, etc. These ideas are represented by explaining social condition, religious rituals, explaining a kingdom/ empire or telling a story of heroic characters. However, this helps us figuring out some incidents that occurred, finding or searching historical items like arts, traces of existence of something in ancient times, antic items, epics etc.

One of the most renowned epic is, "The Epic of Gilgamesh", which was written by Gilgamesh himself in clay tablets. After he wrote his story, he buried those clay tablets, which was later found by archaeologists in later age. This epic of Gilgamesh refracts the ancient Mesopotamian culture, early kingship of Babylon, cultural values like friendship, and more.

Another renowned epic, the Iliad and Odyssey, reflects cultural values, wars, social and political condition of Greek and Troy. This epic had been founded and translated by a Greek poet, Homer's. Though most of these epics, and other mythological texts are more unrealistic, but they hints about the early time.

Some secrets of Ancient architecture and Constructions, like the establishment of Pyramids in Egypt are still not unveiled. No one knows how these massive pyramids are built so accurately without any modern technologies even though today with modern technologies its difficult to construct such things. There are still some doors in the pyramids, which are still unopened. So no one knows what's inside these doors and what's the purpose of that door. However, some Egyptian myth tells us about the pyramid, which gives us idea about its construction and Purpose, and ancient Egyptian technologies. Besides, the formation of great wall of China is still a Mistry. Chinese myths about ancient kingdoms gives us idea about that.

Myths is not just about story telling, its a topic for comparison of ancient times with todays time, formation and shaping monarchy, justification of good or bad. It deals with modern world, psychology and philosophically. Researching myths enable us to predict the future, enhance communication skills to people, and most importantly motivates people.
